WASTEWATER AND STORMWATER DRAWING AND DESIGN SOFTWARE


MsKanal is a wasterwater and storm water drawing and design software, which is able to make hydraulic modelling, developed for municipalities, infrastructure utilities, civil and enviromental engineers and foundations that has activities on GIS applications.

MicroStation Support

Developed by the programming language of Microstation, MDL (Microstation Development Language), msKanal can make advanced element drawings, calculations and design, modifications and database processes in a fast and flexible way with the strenght of Microstation on graphic and non-graphic media. This software runs on versions of Microstation V8, XM and 8i and can be upgraded for new versions.

Strong Visual Planning

Both planning and design in the project can be easily made by the elements (manhole, pipe, catchment area, pump etc) In this way, not only the draft structure but also the main skeleton of the system is established and data for calculation and design is prepared in a short time.

Creating Elements

msKanal does not only place the elements, also creates needed data belonging to the elements into the database simultaneously.

DTM (Digital Terrain Model) (Optional)

With the DTM property of msKanal, there is no need for inputting manhole ground elevation by interpolation on digital maps. If DTM of the region exists, manhole ground elevation belonging to the manhole points will be inputted automatically in the model and written into the database as the manholes are placed.

Flexible Parameters and Settings

Project type can be selected depending on whether the planned system is wastewater or stormwater
- Manhole names can be linked to a counter automatically,
- Standart sized pipes with the required diameter and material and its properties can be defined in a pipe catalogue, only required ones can be taken into consideration while designing and different pipe catalogues can be created,
- Settings can be applied for element placing and any change on these settings is possible during the element creation,
- Properties of the elements such as color, thickness, line style, layer and font can be defined and changed as desired,
- Area types, that is used for wastewater and stormwater, can be defined, values like density, water consumption and flow peak coefficient can be changed.

Calculation and Design

- Calculations with the formulas of Darcy/Colebrook, Manning and Kutter,
- Values like maximum drop depth, maximum depth of excavation, viscosity can be changed before designing, can be redefined and redesigned again and again,
- Flow rate calculations by population density coefficient, catchment area method can be selected,
- Flow direction of the pipes in the system can be configurated by “Sort Pipe” command before designing,
- In design, criterias; various parameters like velocity, slope and flow rate ratio, tolerance values can be changed and redefined for each diameter.
- In stormwater calculation and design, Time Intensity Frequency Curves can be determined by both equation and by raw data.
- Besides circular section, box trapezium sections can be defined and designed in stormwater projects.

User Intervention

Data like additional flow rate, elevation, pipe diameter etc can be changed after calculation and design.
Any required pipe information to be displayed, can be selected and placed from database.

Profile

Profile of required location, can be taken automatically at once, can be saved into other files and printed out before or after calculation.

Superposition

Superposition points of drinking water and stormwater networks can be analysed and taken as a diagram (drawing) on profiles and on cross sections.

Elevation – Gradient Adjustments

By adjustment of elevation and gradient for network and collector lines inlet and outlet invert elevations of pipes are set via profiles with required gradient.

Changes and Reports

Required changes are possible for calculation and design after creation of the elements. For instance, manhole cover elevation, name of a manhole or pipe diameter and material type.
Calculation reports, statistic reports ( diameter, pipe lenght, quantity of manhole points), bill of quantities of all project or any desired region can be seen and printed out in a required format.

Automatic Linear Lines

With the command “ Automatic Line”, various automatic placement options can be applied.

Automatic Element Placement

Surveyed manholes and pipes with an existing information can be created with database information as a model folder (Creating both graphic and database information by one command)

Additional Flow Rates

Calculations and designs can be made for both planned and existing networks by defining required additional flow rate(s) for certain regions.

Parcel, Manhole, Pipe Drawings

Besides the hydraulic modelling of networks, parcel, parcel manhole and pipe drawings can be made, reports releated to this data can be received.

Visual, Thematic Mapping

Results of the model can be turned into a coloured thematic visiul maps on the basis of manhole, pipe and area and calculated values
For example; pipes can be colourized according to diameter, velocity, material and flow rate ratio or manhole as per depth and type.
